Cardinals 6 Extra Base Hits Bury Cain, Giants

Giants starter Matt Cain was tagged for 7 runs on 9 hits in only 5 innings of work as the Cardinals ruined the Giants bid for a 3-game sweep. Unlike the Cardinals, who hit .400 for the game with runners in scoring position, the Giants went 0-8 in such opportunities, and their 8th inning back-to-back homeruns from Brandon Crawford and Eduardo Nunez were both solo-shots.

Nonetheless, the Giants won the road series, and will hopefully take some of that momentum as they travel to Chicago to face the defending World Champion Chicago Cubs. Ty Blach will take the ball for the Giants against veteran right-hander John Lackey. First pitch is at 5:05 PM PST.
